N,N-DiMethyl-3-[(MethylaMino)Methyl]-benzaMide Hydrocloride - Introduction
N, N-dimethyl-3-methylaminomethylbenzamide hydrochloride (abbreviated as DMMA) is an organic compound whose chemical formula is C11H17N2O. HCl.
Nature:
DMMA is a white crystalline solid, soluble in water and some organic solvents at room temperature. It has a pungent odor and a melting point of about 150-155°C. DMMA is a hydrochloride which is acidic in aqueous solution.
Use:
DMMA is often used as a pharmaceutical intermediate, mainly for the synthesis of other organic compounds, such as drugs, dyes and plastics. It can also be used as a catalyst.
Preparation Method:
The preparation of DMMA often uses the reaction of N,N-dimethylformamide and 3-methylcarbamic acid. Specific steps are as follows:
1. Add N,N-dimethylformamide to the solvent and heat to 80-100°C.
2. Add 3-methylcarbamic acid 1.1 points and keep stirring the reaction mixture.
3. Continue heating the reaction to 125-130°C for about 2 hours.
4. The reaction mixture was cooled and the product was crystallized and filtered.
5. Finally, the crystals were washed with hydrogen chloride solution and dried to obtain DMMA hydrochloride.
Safety Information:
DMMA has a certain degree of irritation, should avoid direct contact with the skin and eyes. Personal protective measures such as chemical protective gloves and goggles are recommended when using and handling DMMA. It should be operated in a well-ventilated place to avoid inhaling its vapor or dust.
